Guide for our different gear types: Worm gears, helical gears, spiral bevel gears, planetary gearboxes and Hydro-Mec gear systems:
Worm gears:
Worm gears are a type of gear that consists of a screw worm and a toothed wheel. They are used to change the direction of motion by 90 degrees and to reduce the speed or increase the torque of a rotating shaft. Worm gears have a high reduction ratio and are self-locking. Some applications of worm gears are in conveyor systems, elevators, tuning instruments, and steering mechanisms.
Helical gearboxes:
Helical gearboxes are devices that use helical gears to transmit power and torque between rotating shafts. Helical gears are cylindrical gears with slanted teeth that allow more than one tooth to be in contact during operation. This makes helical gearboxes more efficient, quieter and capable of handling larger loads than other types of gearboxes. Helical gearboxes are widely used in various industries such as mining, cement, power generation, plastics, rubber, pulp and paper, water and wastewater, and food and beverage.
Spiral bevel gears:
Spiral bevel gears are cone shaped gears with curved teeth that can transmit motion and power between two shafts that intersect at an angle. They are often used in vehicle differentials, where they can turn the drive shaft 90 degrees to drive the wheels. Spiral bevel gears have a smooth and quiet operation because their teeth contact each other gradually, and not all at once.
Planetary gearboxes:
Planetary gearboxes are gear systems that have one or more outer gears, called planet gears, that rotate around a central gear, called sun gear. They are used for many applications that need high precision, high torque and low backlash. For example, they can be used to drive rotary and linear actuators, position tables, CNC routers, press brakes and laser cutting machines. Planetary gearboxes can also increase the efficiency and stability of the motors by reducing the inertia and increasing the speed.
Hydro-Mec gear systems:
Hydro-Mec gear systems are used for different applications that require high efficiency, durability and versatility. Hydro-Mec gear systems include bevel gearboxes, helical gearboxes, worm gearboxes and shaft mounted gearboxes. They are made of aluminium or cast iron and can be easily interchanged with other brands on the market. Hydro-Mec gear systems are suitable for heavy loads, high radial forces and various mounting options.
